The FAO Representation in Guinea and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock have validated detailed technical pre-project studies, environmental and social impact studies, as well as tender documents as part of the Dé Project Development of Commercial Agriculture in Guinea (PDACG

).

The validation will allow the construction of three livestock feed manufacturing units in the regions of Kindia, Boké and Greater Conakry. PDACG is financed by the World Bank to the tune of 100 million US dollars. The project aims to sustainably transform the Guinean agricultural sector by stimulating private investments in strategic sectors such as fonio, fruits, cashew nuts and livestock (livestock-poultry). It is also part of a dynamic of modernizing agriculture, creating economic opportunities and strengthening food security.

The planned infrastructures include: Three livestock feed manufacturing units, designed to improve the quality and availability of food, reduce costs for farmers, and increase livestock productivity;

a National Center for Artificial Insemination, which will contribute to the genetic improvement of cattle herds, to the increase of milk and meat production, and to the reduction of dependence on imports;

Ten livestock markets, essential for structuring marketing, improving sales and purchasing conditions, and strengthening animal traceability.

“It is with great honor and deep satisfaction that I am speaking on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock at the opening ceremony of the workshops to validate technical studies concerning three (3) food manufacturing units, ten (10) livestock markets and a National Insemination Center artificial made by national construction companies. These studies were carried out as part of activities planned by the National Directorate of Food and Animal Productions, in accordance with the agreement signed in June 2024 between the Guinea Commercial Agriculture Development Project (PDACG), financed by the Guinean government in collaboration with the

Banque mondiale and FAO,” said Dr. Sawa Camara, advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock.
