Cotton consumption will increase slightly according to Cotton Association estimates, while exports will fall by 20% during the year.

India's cotton harvest is estimated at 344 lakh balls for the season starting October 1, 2022, an increase of 36.95 lakh balls compared to the size of the crop of last year after dropping to its lowest level in 14 years last season. Indeed, the first estimate for 2022-23 (October-September period) was announced by the cotton trade organization following the committee meeting held on 15 October.

On the other hand, the harvest estimate arrived at the moment the price of raw cotton (kapas) hovered around 9,000 rupees per quintal and spot rates for the variety ; 29 mm ginned cotton was 68,700 rupees per quintal. Cotton production in Gujarat is estimated at 91 lakh bullets compared to 76.30 lakh bullets estimated last year. Recalled that Gujarat is the largest cotton producing state. CAI president Atul Ganatra said during CAI centennial celebrations that India's cotton harvest for the 2022-23 season was estimated at 344 lakh balls. “This year, so far, planting has been completed on 128.35 lakh hectares, about 10 lakh hectares more than last year,” he said. Exports for the year are expected to decrease by around eight lakh balls, or about 20% to 35 lakh balls compared to 43 lakh balls according to CAI estimates.
