The company Orange Cameroon was condemned on 14 May 2024 by the Coastal Court of Appeal, sitting in Douala. She is called upon to pay more than 500 million FCFA to the Cameroonian artist-musician Ama Pierrot, whose real name is Ama Ngoa

Marcel.

The court found the local subsidiary of the French telecommunications group guilty of copyright infringement, after more than ten years of legal proceedings. The case began in 2011 before the criminal court in Yaoundé administrative center, where Ama Pierrot is suing Jean Michel Latute, then CEO of Orange Cameroon. The case was transferred in 2017 to the Criminal Court of Douala Bonanjo, following the resignation of the latter. The artist is defended by the law firm Dudieu Avocats and Me Carine Monthe. Ama Pierrot accuses the company of having exploited, without authorization, its record “Ingratitude”, gold record and best seller of the year 2006, as a call indicator and telephone ringtone on the Orange Cameroon network, for commercial and advertising purposes between 2006 and 2017
