According to the decision taken in mid-May by Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire, the country premiums on cocoa will be published for the first time in June.

The world's first and second largest cocoa producers published yesterday the level of premium that the trade and industry pay for exported cocoa, in other words, the "country premium". It should be remembered that the international cocoa market players have severely reduced the level of this country premium in order to compensate for the decent income differential (DRD or LID) of $400 imposed by the two countries on each ton leaving the country.

For the month of June, the Cocoa Coffee Council (CCC) in Côte d'Ivoire has set the DRD at -£125 or -$157.50 per ton, while Ghana has set it at -£60 or -$75.56, according to a press release from the Côte d'Ivoire-Ghana cocoa initiative. The difference between the two origins is due to the quality of the cocoa, with the Ghanaian bean always paid more.
