The 5th Congress of Accountants of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) will be held in Ouagadougou from 26 to 27 October 2023. The fight against illicit financial flows will be addressed during the work

Around 400 accountants and accountants from Burkina and the sub-region are expected to reflect on the theme “chartered accountant and the fight against illicit financial flows”. Illicit financial flows concern all cross-border transfers of capital, in connection with illegal activities (corruption, smuggling, drug trafficking, etc.). During the two days that the congress will last, participants will work to raise awareness of the role of accounting and auditing professionals in the fight against illicit financial flows

The specific aim will be to take stock of the expectations of stakeholders in the fight against illicit financial flows vis-à-vis accountants and to propose solutions in this regard, to encourage the strong involvement of accountants in the fight against illicit financial flows but also to propose technical tools for profiling and tracing illicit financial flows.
