On Wednesday, July 16, the Beninese government approved in the Council of Ministers, Benin's membership in the GloBE Network initiative.

The GloBE Network aims to strengthen the fight against corruption globally. This group was launched in 2021 by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). According to the Council of Ministers, the “main objective of Benin's accession is to facilitate transnational cooperation in corruption cases”, and to “enable the authorities to detect, investigate and prosecute offences related to cross-border corruption more effectively

The GloBE Network is in fact “open to all anti-corruption law enforcement authorities in states that have subscribed to the United Nations Charter”. According to the government, by adhering to this system, the country will be able to benefit from “opportunities for sharing knowledge between peers” and especially from “access to a secure platform for exchanging information”.
