The vice president of Nigeria's sovereign wealth fund, Kashim Shettima announced on 19 March, during the signing of the joint venture, that his institution plans to build a 20 MW hybrid solar power plant in partnership with a local company.

Nigeria's sovereign wealth fund and a local company are thinking about developing the country's first hybrid solar-hydroelectric networked project. Indeed, according to Shettima, the 20 MW plant is part of a 300 MW program that will be developed in the concession area of NSP's 600 megawatt hydroelectric power plant in Shiroro, in the State of Niger.
