This Friday, copper prices in Shanghai hit a high of nearly three years, while prices in London hit a 10-month high, supported by a potential reduction in production in China, the main producer.

After reaching $9,020 earlier in the session, the highest since April 2023, three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange (LME) rose 1.3% to $9,005 per ton at 05:39 GMT. The most traded copper contract in May on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) rose 1.7% to 72,890 yuan ($10,129.10) per ton, after climbing to 72,890 yuan, its highest level since May 2021, earlier in the session.

SHFE aluminum rose by 0.2% to 19,300 yuan per ton, tin grew by 1.2% to 225,950 yuan, nickel rose slightly by 0.1% to 141,850 yuan, while zinc was almost stable at 21,475 yuan per ton, and lead fell by 0.1% to 16,305 yuan. LME aluminum increased by 0.9% to 2,272 dollars per ton, nickel rose by 1.1% to 18,270 dollars, zinc rose by 0.9% to 2,572 dollars, tin rose by 0.5% to 28,410 dollars while lead fell by 0.1% to 2,156.50 dollars
