Since Saturday evening, January 7, 2023, fuel prices have increased in Senegal. Those because of the persistence of the international crisis, which is affecting commodity prices as well as the économie global economy.

The cost of diesel and gasoline increased by 100 CFA francs. The government has decided to reduce its fuel and electricity subsidy in order to direct it to the Senegalese who need it the most. Indeed, during his address to the nation on 31 December, President Macky Sall announced that the social protection effort would be strengthened in 2023. Thus, 450 billion CFA will therefore be mobilized to subsidize food and energy products. The Senegalese government has also decided to upgrade electricity. This will apply in installments to users who consume more than 150 kilowatts per hour every two months.
