In the company of the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, Léon Juste Ibombo, the Director General Africa of the ADB, while working in Brazzaville, visited on 5 August the construction site of the national Datacenter, which has already been completed by more than 90%. The structure will be inaugurated by the Head of State, Denis Sassou N'Guesso before the November 28 holiday

.

Construction of the National Datacenter was launched last year. The Director General Africa of the ADB and the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy came out satisfied, after noticing that the work is sufficiently advanced and receiving assurances from Chinese technicians that the work will be carried out within the deadlines initially planned by the government and the ADB.

According to minister Léon Juste Ibombo, “you cannot talk about electronic governance without having data sovereignty. And the Datacenter is used to host critical government data, but also other operators who can house their data there. We are working hard to meet the deadlines so that the President of the Republic, Denis Sassou N'Guesso, inaugurates it no later than November 28, the day on which he will present his speech on the state of the nation. And we would like him to launch this infrastructure before then so that the world knows that Congo has entered the era of digitalization and modernity.” The Minister in charge of the Digital Economy expressed the hope that this critical infrastructure would be completed as soon as possible so that it could be put into service by the Head of State, in the wake of the festivities

on November 28.

“I had the honor and the privilege of meeting the Minister in charge of Planning, Ludovic Ngatsé, who reassured me of his willingness to continue working with the ADB. This morning, I was received by the Minister of Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio, Christian Yoka, who assured me that funds will be made available to the project team to complete the work as soon as possible. This Datacenter will be the largest digital infrastructure in Central Africa and this should be a source of pride for Congolese people,” said Léandre Bassolé, Director General

Africa at the AfDB.
