This change from one quarter to the next is due to the decrease in claims on the economy (-147.7 billion or -0.7%), combined with the decline in net claims of depository institutions on general government. Power stations (APUC) of the States of the Union (-133.5 billion or -1.6%).
In annual variation, the increase in outstanding domestic claims stood at 13.4% at the end of March 2019, after 9.4% three months earlier.
This dynamism is mainly attributable to the expansion of net claims on APUC (+31.3% against +11.5% three months earlier) and the good performance of claims on the economy (+8.0% against +8.7% three months earlier).
The contributions of claims on the economy and net claims on APUC
to the annual growth of domestic claims stood at 6.1 percentage points (pdp) and 7.3 pdp at the end of March 2019, compared to 6.4 pdp and 3.0 pdp respectively at the end of December 2018.
Net claims of depository institutions on APUC fell by 1.6% in the first quarter of 2019, quarter on quarter, compared to an increase of 8.8% in the previous quarter.
This change is mainly due to the deflation of the net claims of the BCEAO on the Central Public Administrations (-94.9% or -249.5 billion), mitigated by the increase in the net claims of the banks on the APUC (+1.5% or +116.1 billion) over the period.
