The Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) and the School of Management Sciences of the University of Quebec in Montreal (ESG UQAM) signed a memorandum of understanding, this Friday, July 5 in Abidjan.
The two institutions thus undertake to collaborate within the framework of basic training, continuing and certifying training for players in the regional financial market, as well as stock market education for the populations of WAEMU.
Before the effective launch of the BRVM Academy, a securities academy intended for financial market professionals and the general public, from the eight WAEMU countries.
" After more than 20 years of operation, the WAEMU regional financial market, in competition with the other financial centers of our continent, is faced with a lack of development of culture and professionalization of its stakeholders for better liquidity and increased efficiency ", explains Edoh Kossi Amenounvé, Managing Director of the BRVM.
the School of Management Sciences of the University of Quebec in Montreal is the technical partner with which the BRVM intends to provide the sub-regional financial ecosystem with a training and capacity building tool.
This in view of the new requirements of the finance professions and in the face of a rapidly changing technological environment.
An example of cooperation between a private interest group with a sub-regional vocation and an international university, welcomed by both parties.
" Succeeding the bet of accelerating the penetration of the notions and practices of finance of our populations cannot result from actions carried out in a vacuum, without recourse to external expertise, without openness to the world and without sharing of experience. with those who already have convincing results in this context ", adds the Director General of the BRVM.

Through this Memorandum, the BRVM and ESG UQAM will also work to promote technological innovation in the field of financial markets, the development of Fintechs and digital finance within the sub-region.
Over the past five years, the BRVM has initiated training seminars and workshops to build the capacity of market players and professionals on financial communication, investor relations, securities trading techniques, portfolio management, etc. .
13,789 people were trained, including 9,377 on the basic notions of stock markets and 4,412 in modular training in National Stock Exchange Branches in all 8 WAEMU countries.
