The weekly operations of liquidity injection into the banking system, carried out by the Bank of Central African States (Beac) amounted to 1,213 billion CFA francs in banks in March 2021.

A record envelope of CFAF 1,213 billion was made available to credit institutions in this community area of six States (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad) during the month of March 2021. "Credit institutions in the sub-region had never captured so many resources during the weekly liquidity injection operations of the central bank over a period of one month, "notes the Autonomous Amortization Fund (CAA) in its latest report on Cameroon's public debt at the end of March 2021.

The dynamism observed around bank refinancing with the Beac is associated with credit institutions that request liquidity when their needs are higher than their usual consumption. This increase in liquidity consumption at the beginning of the year can, therefore, be explained by the gradual recovery of economic activities, despite the 2nd wave of the coronavirus, a pandemic that has weighed on cemac's economies during 2020.
