The Continental Free Trade Area (Zlecaf) Agreement officially comes into force today after its ratification by 34 African countries. Intended to promote transactions between the countries of the African continent, the Zlecaf whose demographic potential is 1.2 billion people will eventually increase internal trade and the elimination of between 85% and 90% of customs duties on goods. and services.

This fateful date, which marks a major turning point in this ambitious African integration project, will above all allow the African Union to experiment, define and gradually refine the new rules of the game in exchanges between countries on the continent and outwards.

To achieve this objective, it will be necessary to implement and apply stimulation strategies by developing transport infrastructure, promoting African production and thus boosting intra-African trade, which currently represents only 16% in order to generate wealth.
