The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of the Central Bank of West African States in Dakar on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.

Kristalina Georgieva was welcomed, on her arrival at the headquarters of the Central Bank of West African States, in Dakar, by Governor Tiémoko Meyliet Koné. The two leaders exchanged warm handshakes.

Received in a relaxed and very friendly atmosphere, the Director of the IMF expressed verbally to the Governor, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, her admiration for the work done in the WAEMU zone.

In fact, for Norbert Toe, Vice-Governor of the BCEAO, the visit of the Managing Director of the IMF is "to mark the excellence of the relations that the Monetary Fund maintains with the Central Bank".

Indeed, the Director of the IMF praised the quality of relations between the IMF and the BCEAO. "I am very happy to be here in an institution which is a very good partner of the International Monetary Fund", she will say, in front of the Governor of the BCEAO and his collaborators.

The boss of the IMF also received two strong symbolic gifts, offered by the Governor of the BCEAO. And for Kristalina Georgieva, it is "an honor" for her and her collaborators to accept them.

Since her appointment as Managing Director of the IMF last September, Kristalina Georgieva has made her first visit to the African continent in Dakar.

The Director of the International Monetary Fund thus took part, on Monday, in an international conference on "sustainable development and sustainable debt". The high-level meeting saw the participation of several UEMOA Heads of State, experts from the IMF and the United Nations as well as economists.
