On January 30, 2026, the Ministry of Education superior (Minesup) has signed an agreement with the insurance consortium formed by Zenith Insurance and Lothe Consulting Assurance, in order to allow students from the eleven state universities to benefit from health coverage individual and accident insurance.

A communication from Minesup indicates that the convention provides for the care of students in public hospitals and approved health establishments, as well as participation in the improvement of the technical platform of university medico-social centers. The document especially refers to “taking out an insurance policy. fully supported”, financed up to 40% by the Minesup and 60% by each state university. According to the ministry, this initiative is part of a context of low social coverage and access difficult to care for a large part of the population, in line with the government's desire to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
