The average weekly volume of interbank transactions, all maturities combined, in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU),  remained almost stable in June 2020 compared to the previous month, according to data from the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).

This volume amounted  to CFAF 236.8 billion during the period under review compared to CFAF 236.5 billion in May 2020. The weighted average rate for these operations was 3.48% compared to 3.50% the previous month, a decrease of 0.02 percentage points.  (1 euro = 655 CFA Francs)

Under the one-week segment, the average volume of operations came out at CFAF 160.5 billion in June 2020 after CFAF 173.6 billion a month earlier, a decrease of CFAF 13.1 billion. The average interest rate on this window stood at 3.24% against 3.41% in May 2020, a decline of 0.17 percentage points  . Compared to the regional money market, the services of the issuing institution note that the average amount of bids on the weekly auction window was set at 3,450.3 billion FCFA  in June 2020 against 3,428.7 billion in May 2020, a slight increase of 0.6%. 
In connection with the reduction in the KEY RATES OF THE BCEAO, the weighted average rate on the weekly window came out at 2.40% during the month under review against 2.50% in May 2020. The average amount retained at the end of the auctions amounted to 3,450.3 billion CFA francs  in June 2020.
