The President of the Republic, Faure Gnassingbé received this Friday at the Palace of the Presidency, the new President of the WAEMU Commission, Abdoulaye Diop. At the end of his hearing at the Presidency of the Republic, the new President of the WAEMU Commission, Abdoulaye Diop, said he had come to collect the opinions and advice of the Head of State concerning his new functions. Coming to thank the Head of State and all his peers for the trust placed in him, by appointing him at the head of the Commission, Abdoulaye Diop received the guidance of the Head of State Faure Gnassingbé for a better management of the sub-regional institution.
It was an opportunity to say " my commitment and my availability to do everything possible to carry out the mission that is ours. Of course, it was also to gather his opinions and advice. In this context, we have discussed important issues concerning the Union and the functioning of the Commission. As you know, there are the issues of the day, especially the security issues on which we have received his very wise advice, "said Abdoulaye Diop.
The two authorities also discussed the conditions for economic recovery. " In this context, the issues of financing economies, the development of the private sector, that of the digital economy and the issue of the environment were raised. These are essential subjects that we must set in order to allow the Union to take a further step to meet the needs of the populations," stressed the President of the WAEMU Commission.
In addition, he welcomed the inauguration of the Adétikopé industrial platform. According to him, this is a path in which one must embark to emerge and it is a strategic option to initiate the policy of industrial development.
