There is a significant increase in the volume of electronic money transactions within the Union. These transactions are increased from 260 million to 11 billion FCFA between 2014 and 2024.

The number of electronic money accounts has also increased, evolving from 18 million to nearly 248 million over the same period period. The strong rise in digital payments has been a powerful vector of financial inclusion that has greatly improved to become established to date at 74%, compared to less than 15% twenty years ago.

These figures were provided by the governor from the BCEAO , Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, during the launch of the Interoperable Platform of instant system payment (PI-SPI), on September 30, 2025, in Dakar, at Senegal.

The Nigerian government has acquired 144.7 million US dollars, or about 80,670,250,000 FCFA, through the signing of a financing agreement with the Mso-bidi-language:ar-sa"> African Bank development (BAD), on October 2, 2025, in Abidjan, in Côte d'Ivoire from Ivory. According to the ADB press release, this financing is intended to improve access to energy and the competitiveness of the private sector in Niger. In the long run, This financing should make it possible to increase national access to electricity 22.5% to 30% by 2026, while stimulating the manufacturing contribution to GDP from 2.5% to 3.8%. A key component focuses on the framework of development of renewable energy capacities, with plans for 240 MW of solar energy by 2030, including 50 MW before December 2026.
