Public Works Minister David Umahi has announced on Wednesday November 26, 2025 that the Federal Ministry of Public Works cancelled the Abuja-Lokoja road contracts, which were considered to be inefficient, as a result a thorough review of their performance.

During a press briefing on the results of the meeting held with the ministry and selected contractors, the minister of Public Works revealed that that contractors are working on the Lokoja-Shintaku-Dekina road corridor and on the reconstruction of the corridor Okene-Ajaokuta highway in Kogi State. According to him, that some contracts had been terminated by mutual agreement. He listed the contracts, including the provision of culverts and drains in an area subject to floods on the federal road network in the central-north zone: section 2, Abuja—Lokoja.

For him, rigid coating contracts are managed by Sadogi Nigeria Ltd., which was awarded the contract on 4 April 2024.

The minister said that only 39.04% had been completed, while 112.88% of the time allowed had passed.
