From Transport to the National Assembly on November 28, 2025, the government
announced the launch of feasibility studies for the construction of a new
airport in the metropolitan area of Douala.
The Government of Cameroon relaunches a project
world class airport in the Douala metropolis. The studies of
feasibility will begin in 2026, in a context of late modernization of
infrastructures and great ambitions for air transport. According to the
magazine Invest In Cameroon, the responsible minister specified that these studies
focus on “building a world-class airport.”
The announced objective is to strengthen connectivity of the country, but also to support the economic activity of a strategic coastline which constitutes its main coastline, and which concentrates a large share of trade. millions of euros. The second concerns the modernization of the terminal and the
creation of new spaces, with the development of 20,000 m² and the
construction of an additional 10,000 m².
