This past weekend, the International Development Association (IDA) Summit for Africa brought together African leaders in Dakar.

This meeting is part of a robust launch of the twentieth round of IDA financing (IDA20). The heads of state agreed on $93 billion to help IDA-supported countries recover. Through IDA, the World Bank reaffirms its commitment to fostering development in Africa. To implement this program to transform their economies, the leaders issued a call to action requiring strong leadership and political commitment. An important source of financing for the fight against extreme poverty in the world's lowest-income countries, the IDA20 financing cycle runs from July 2022 to June 2025.
