Moroccan ports recorded an increase significant amount of global port traffic in 2025, reaching 262.6 million tonnes, compared to 241.2 million tonnes in 2024, an increase of 8.9%, according to data published by the Ministry of Equipment and Water.

This performance is driven by traffic at the same time. domestic and by transshipment. National traffic settled at 130 million tons, up by 3.5%, while transshipment has reached 132.6 million tons, registering a sustained growth of 14.7 % compared to the previous year, the ministry said in a press release.

The structure of port traffic in 2025 confirms the rise in transshipment power, which now represents 50.5% of the volume global. It is followed by imports (29.6%), exports (15.7%), cabotage (3.6%) and bunkering (0.6%), illustrating the diversity of port activities in the Kingdom.

In the transshipment segment, the port complex of Tanger Med consolidates its position as a major logistics hub in the Mediterranean. The site has benefited from a significant increase in container transshipment, with 128.7 million tonnes, up 14.4%, corresponding to 10.3 million TEUs, an increase of 7.9%.

As for imports, they reached 77.6 million tons in 2025, up 2.8% over one year. The main imported trafficking shows contrasting trends: hydrocarbons (13.4 million tonnes, +3.9%), coal (10.4 million tonnes, +7.3%), containers (13.5 million tons, +14.6%) and international transport Road transport (6.9 million tonnes, +7%) increased, while cereals (10.1 million tons, -4.5%) and sulfur (6.7 million tons, -18.2) %) recorded a decline.
