Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouki, announced on the evening of Wednesday, December 03, 2025 at
Algiers, the official launch of 5G technology. The announcement was made during
of a ceremony organized at the International Conference Center
Abdelatif-Rahal.
The new generation of mobile network, technology
5G is now in service in Algeria. The official launch took place in
presence of members of the government, of the adviser to the President of the
Republic in charge of communication, Mr. Kamel Sidi Said, as well as
representatives of Mobilis, Ooredoo and
Djezzy, holders of the 5G license, and the Postal Regulatory Authority
and electronic communications (ARPCE).
The launch of 5G has been described as a”
'decisive step'” for the modernization of telecommunications, a start of
gradual deployment intended to support the digital economy. Les
announced goals are linked to Artificial Intelligence, to the Internet of
Objects (IoT), Cloud Computing and technologies used in health,
industry 4.0, education or even smart mobility.
According to the Minister of Post and
Telecommunications from Algeria, sid
Ali Zerrouki, the digital ecosystem could generate 9 billion dollars
for GDP in 2025 and 13 billion by 2030, thanks in particular to jobs
created and to attract investments. According to him, “thanks to the
strategic vision, with the constant support and precise directions of the
President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, we were able to ensure
the efficiency and the optimal quality of this project at all levels”.
According to the CEO of Ooredoo Algeria, Mr. Roni Tohme, this launch marks an important step for its operator, which wants to participate actively in digital transformation by offering 5G services and broad coverage.
The commissioning of 5G will allow according to the
Ministry to operators “to begin the deployment of the first stations
5G and to prepare offers for citizens and businesses,
in accordance with a national plan guaranteeing progressive coverage and
balanced over a period of six years”, with the objective of achieving all
of the territory.
