About fifteen African leaders, several senior European officials and a dozen representatives of international organizations will take part in the Summit on African Economies. Togolese Head of State Faure Gnassingbé will also be there.

The summit on African economies in Paris, an initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron, will have the effective participation of President Faure Gnassingbé. The main objective of this meeting is to put in place financial means capable of reviving the economy of this continent, which has experienced about 130,000 deaths from Covid, according to official figures but whose GDP should experience in 2021 its first recession in 25 years, with a decline of 2.1%.

According to the Elysée, growth should return in 2022, but at a slower pace than that of more developed countries, with a risk of "divergence ". Hence the initiative of the French Head of State of such a summit to attract investment in Africa to the public and private sectors, penalized by risk premiums that drive up interest rates.
