The balance of Senegal's balance of services deteriorated by 83.2 billion in 2019 according to the Central Bank of West African States (Bceao) which gives these data related to the "Balance of payments and the Senegal's overall external position”.

Indeed, the Bceao points out that this deterioration in the balance of the balance of services took place under the effect of the increase in freight (+29.2 billion) inherent in the increase in imports, the increase in specialized services to the benefit of mining and oil companies (+94.4 billion), as well as the fall in the surplus of communication services (-15.1 billion). According to him, the deficit was partially mitigated by an improvement in the “travel” item (+19.3 billion).

In addition, the Central Bank confides that the deficit of the primary income account stood at 383.7 billion against 333.7 billion, i.e. a deterioration of 50.0 billion in connection with a drop in net outflows in respect of investment income. . Its profile reflects in particular, according to the institution, the interest payments on the external public debt which represent more than 61.0% of net primary income.

In the same vein, she reported that the surplus in the balance of the secondary income account consolidated by 7.2% to 1,225.3 billion (8.9% of GDP), reflecting the good performance of remittances from migrant workers. Also, indicates the Bceao, receipts increased by 9.5% to 1,393.2 billion in 2019 and represent 10.1% of nominal GDP. "According to the economic reason, the funds received are allocated to current expenditure, a small part (7.6%) being intended for investment", finally confides the Central Bank.
