In Cameroon, MTN plans to connect 1,000 localities with technical support from Huawei. This is an 80 billion FCFA (131 million USD) joint initiative with the Agence de l'Electrification Rurale (AER), which in turn will bring electricity to 1,000 rural communities.

MTN Cameroon is increasing its investments and partnerships to develop its network and reduce the digital divide. The mobile operator will provide mobile services and Internet connectivity to 1,000 rural communities in Cameroon with the technical support of Chinese technology giant Huawei. As part of the partnership, MTN will provide these rural areas with transmission. This is a method of bringing the signal from areas that are already covered to new areas to be covered.
