The Minister of Health and Social Action yesterday opened the 7th edition of the joint annual review of the National Health and Social Development Plan. On the occasion, the authority noted progress while acknowledging that there are still challenges to be met.

The objective of the 7th edition of the joint annual review of the National Health and Social Development Plan is to evaluate the achievements made at the level of the health system.
For  Minister Awa Marie Coll Seck, efforts have been made in different areas of the health sector. "We have had a qualitative leap in terms of the number of people recruited. We are in the process of reaching 1,000 agents recruited per year (...). In Senegal, we have 1,600 health posts, apart from Thiès and Dakar. We want all these positions to be able to have a nurse and a midwife. This will increase the quality of care," she explained.
Progress has also been noted in the National Health Development Programme. Awa Marie Coll Seck pleaded for a synergy of actions around "the planning exercise for a better identification of strategies to be developed in the sector".
