This performance marks a turning point. for the sector, largely supported by the entry into production of hydrocarbons.
The ANSD attributes this
trend favorable mainly to the jump in industrial production
extractive substances, up 39.1%. This dynamic is explained by the taking in
Account of the start of oil extraction in Senegal, an event
structuring for the national economy. To this contribution are added
the increase in electricity, gas and water production (+14.4%),
as well as the growth of manufacturing industries (+5.1%). On the other hand,
environmental industries experienced a decline of 5.1% over the period.
Of the first eleven
In the month of 2025, industrial production excluding cotton shows a
overall improvement of 24.5% compared to the same period in 2024,
confirming the knock-on effect of extractive activities on the whole
industrial fabric.
In detail, the
extractive industries recorded strong growth in November 2025
(+39.1% year-on-year), driven almost exclusively by operations
oil. However, this performance contrasts with the setback observed in
metal ore mining (-33.9%) and in other industries
extractive (-2.1%). Cumulatively over the first eleven months of 2025, the
extractive production jumped by 67.7% compared to the previous year.
In addition, the Electricity, gas and water production grew by 14.4% in November 2025 compared to November 2024, due to a simultaneous increase in production of water (+14.6%) and that of electricity and gas (+14.4%). On In the first eleven months of the year, this segment recorded cumulative growth by 7.2% year-on-year.
On the other hand,
the cotton ginning business remained at a standstill in November 2025, without
production recorded over the period. Overall, these indicators
confirm the rise of the Senegalese industrial sector, now
driven by hydrocarbons, and open up new perspectives for
economic growth of the country.
