A training seminar was organized on the theme "Contribution of civil society in the fight against crimes committed in sea: case of armed robbery, maritime piracy, marine pollution and illicit trafficking", for the attention of 30 civil society actors from ECOWAS Member States and Mauritania.

This initiative of the Interregional Maritime Security Institute (ISMI) is part of the ECOWAS Integrated Maritime Strategy, l The European Union (EU) has decided on funding under the SWAIMS project (Support for Integrated Maritime Security in West Africa). The objective of this programme is to strengthen the maritime security and safety capacities of ECOWAS national personnel.

This training is supported by the European Union and the SWAIMS project team based in Abuja and Abidjan, including the private sector and civil society expert. Intended for organizations of national civil societies.
