The sixth ministerial meeting on security in the WAEMU area resulted in several reforms and a roadmap for the framework cooperation agreement.

The draft roadmap takes into account the areas of cooperation identified by the Framework Cooperation Agreement, namely, "any security threats that may jeopardize institutional stability and social peace". The roadmap is structured around several objectives, namely: to strengthen the sharing of information and intelligence as well as the fight against terrorism and transnational organised crime in cross-border areas; involve the population in the prevention and management of crises and conflicts; and developing border areas of peace and security. During the meeting, ministers pledged to strengthen their cooperation through the exchange of information and the coordination of actions to combat terrorism and transnational organized crime. The ministers did not fail to condemn the terrorist attacks in the WAEMU region, particularly in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali and Niger. They express their solidarity with these countries. They also advocated for the interconnection of border police posts.
