The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Nigerian company Jubaili Agrotec announced a partnership on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. T his cooperation will allow the company to expand its regional footprint and increase access to key inputs for smallholder farmers.

Jubaili Agrotec is a Nigeria-based manufacturer and distributor of agrochemicals. The company is partnering with IFC to improve food security in sub-Saharan Africa. The goal is to increase smallholder farmers' access to key inputs such as fertilizers used to protect crops and increase food production. According to the statement issued by the IFC, the World Bank subsidiary's $35 million financing package will help Jubaili expand its production capacity in Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Uganda, thereby helping to offset Africa's dependence on imported agrochemicals.

The IFC financing package will be accompanied by advisory services to help Jubaili integrate products that contribute to climate adaptation and climate-smart agriculture, such as drip irrigation equipment. The advisory work will also help smallholder farmers integrate sustainable farming techniques and benefit from improved productivity and income.
