The announcement was made in a Press release published on Thursday, October 16 on the website of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The OPEC Fund allocates 15 million dollars to the Project in support of the energy sector (PASET 2) and 16 million dollars for the Project of development of rice cultivation in Chari-Logone III. Together, these initiatives will expand access to reliable and affordable energy and will strengthen domestic food production in one of the regions from Africa the most vulnerable to climate change.
“These loans address two of the most critical challenges. challenges that Chad is facing today: energy security and food,” said Dr. Alkhalifa. “They will concretely improve the lives and the livelihoods of thousands of people, while supporting the government's goals for the development of renewable energies and improving agricultural resilience. This work is also part of closely in our own climate and food security action plans.
