The headquarters of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) hosted the first meeting of the office of the Association of African Central Banks (ABCA), for the year 2020.

Held in the presence of Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, Governor of the BCEAO and John Rwangombwa, Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda, current president of the association, this meeting of the ABCA was preceded by a preparatory meeting of the Technical Committee (CT), February 10 and 11, 2020.

The creation of the Association of African Central Banks (ABCA) was a decision of the Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), on May 25, 1963, in Addis Ababa.

With 41 members, the ABCA aims to develop cooperation between African Central Banks in the monetary, banking and financial fields.

The Association of African Central Banks (ABCA) also has the ambition, at the end of a well-defined chronological process of convergence, of the advent of a single currency and a common Central Bank in Africa.
