organized in Abidjan from 1 to 3 October ended with the signing of a
Memorandum of Understanding between the African Development Bank Group
(BAD) and the International Organization for Migration
(OIM) .
The African Development Bank and
the International Organization for Migration signed an agreement
history in order to strengthen crisis prevention, encourage integration
regional and build lasting peace through concrete actions and
coordinates. This agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between the two.
institutions around a common objective: anticipate crises, support the
peace and build sustainable resilience on the African continent.
The Director General of the African Development Bank for Africa In the East, Nnenna Nwabufo has insisted on the occasion on the need to go from a reactive approach to a preventive approach in crisis management. THE IOM and the ADB are already collaborating on several pilot projects, in particular between the Central African Republic and Cameroon, inspired by successful initiatives between Tanzania and Kenya or even between Benin and Togo. These projects are part of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ZLeCAF), supported by the ADB, and aim to accelerate regional integration while strengthening social cohesion.
With this new partnership between ADB and IOM,
Africa once again affirms its desire to transform the management of
crises in opportunities for sustainable and inclusive development.
