With the aim of deepening dialogue with Gabonese authorities and consolidating partnership with this Central African country, a high-level delegation from the African Development Bank Group led by the institution's Director General for the Central Africa region, Léandre Bassolé, stayed in Libreville, Gabon, from March 8 to 15, 2026.

The AfDB delegation met with the Vice-President of the Republic, Alexandre Barro Chambrier. It also met with the Vice-President of the Government, Hermann Immongault, and the Minister of Planning and Foresight, Louise Pierrette Mvono. The delegation also held discussions with the Minister of Agriculture, Pacôme Kossy, and the Minister of Public Works, Edgard Mokoumbi.

Discussions focused on the partnership between the Bank Group and the Gabonese Republic, including the implementation of structuring infrastructure projects, central to the country's economic transformation, as well as the booming mining sector, with a key role expected in the country's economic diversification.

According to the Vice-President of the Government, Hermann Immongault, "Gabon and the African Development Bank Group share a common vision: that of a country that values its resources, invests in its human capital, and builds infrastructure to serve Gabonese citizens. This mission demonstrates the strength of our partnership and our shared desire to go further."

For his part, the institution's Director General for the Central Africa region, Léandre Bassolé, stated that "Gabon has made remarkable progress thanks to our partnership, and it is precisely because we believe in this country's potential that we are rigorously committed to monitoring each project. The quality of execution is as important to us as the ambition of the investments."
