The Secretaries General of the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) will hold their 20th annual meeting from 11 to 13 September at the headquarters of the African Development Bank in Abidjan. One year after their meeting in Bali, Indonesia, they will work to strengthen the achievements of the IFI Council.

The meeting held in the Ivorian capital will focus on topics such as the effectiveness of the IFI Council, expanding the role of the Board, the support required by the Board Committees, and establishing and strengthening the relationship between the Board and management. Fifty participants will be present, from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Investment and Infrastructure Bank, to name a few.

"Our interactions over the past few years have allowed me to understand that we all face similar and common challenges, as overseers of the governance mechanisms of our institutions," said Vincent Nmehielle, Secretary General of the Bank, host of the event. "We look forward to welcoming our guests to Abidjan for increasingly relevant deliberations aimed at better serving our institutions."

During the annual meeting, several presentations will be delivered by each institution: "Geopolitics and its impact on shareholders", "Technological innovation around the board's activities", "Meeting the challenges of programming the board's work", "Reforms of supervision and good governance". The latter theme will explore best practices in International Financial Institutions, the role of the audit committee and governance.
