Among the economic variables used to measure the wealth of nations, the average wage remains a priority criterion for the average citizen. In the 2022 ranking published by the American magazine, CEOWorld, UEMOA has no place in the top 100.

The gap between the average monthly earnings of employees in African countries is significant. On the 105 steps of the podium of the American magazine, CEOworld, no UEMOA country. In the West African region, we find Ghana and Nigeria. According to survey data, the average net salary in Ghana was $244.91/month in 2022. A figure that places the country at the bottom of the rankings. Of the 105 countries on the list, Ghana is in fact a sad 99th place. It is followed by Nigeria, which is 103rd with an average net salary of $166.33/month.

At continental level, the first African country to be found in this ranking is South Africa, which occupies 34th place in the world. It is thus ahead of China (39th with $1122.36/month) and Portugal (41st with $984.75/month). The average net salary in South Africa is $1362.35/month. It is followed in Africa by Mauritius (71st with $483.31/month), Kenya (77th with $416.53/month), Morocco (86th with $385.53/month), Tunisia (96th with $277.44/month) and Algeria (98th with $249.67/month).

Globally, the countries with the highest net average wages are: Switzerland ($6142.1/month), Singapore ($4350.79/month), Australia ($4218.89/month), United States ($3721.64/month), and US ($3721.64/month), and US United Arab Emirates. The lowest average monthly wage exists in Sri Lanka.
