In an interview with MAP, Omar Alami, President of the Association of Moroccan Management Companies and Investment Funds (ASFIM), outlines the challenges of the financial asset management sector and asfim's prospects. The Association of Moroccan Management Companies and Investment Funds is a professional organization that brings together all the actors in the business of financial asset management in Morocco, in this case the management companies of Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS).
ASFIM's mission revolves around the implementation of all means promoting the development of UCITS and the promotion of asset management in Morocco and the centralization of information concerning collective management in Morocco for the benefit of all its members.
According to figures provided by Omar Alami, at the end of 2020 net assets under management reached 523.19 billion dirhams (MMDH) which represents more than 40% of the national GDP. " In 2021, asset management will continue its contribution to the recovery by collecting savings and investing it to finance the State and companies (public and private) through the debt or share market," he said
According to Omar Alami, the association created in 1995, will exploit for the next 10 years the strong potential represented by the savings of individuals and the pool of opportunities beyond borders. By 2030, ASFIM's activity will revolve around 5 priority axes. Among others : the expansion of the range of UCITS marketed ; tax incentives for individual investors ; financial education and the professionalization of financial market participants; the modernization of infrastructure and the promotion of the Moroccan financial centre.
