On October 14, 2022, after its committee meeting, the Cotton Association of India (CAI) released the final cotton harvest estimates for the last season.

Gujarat's harvest fell by 17% to 76.30 lakh bales while production was further reduced to 307 lakh bales. Indeed, on September 30, 2022, India's cotton production for the finished season fell to 307.5 lakh bales (each 170 kg of raw cotton) from 360.13 lakh bales estimated at the start of the season in October last year. The lowest since 2007-08, when production was 307 lakh bales. For the previous season ended on September 30, 2021, the figure is around 13% below the estimated 353 lakh balls. The total supply of cotton would be around 392.89 lakh bales, including 307.05 lakh bales from the harvest, 14 lakh bales from imports, and 71.84 lakh bales carried over from the previous year according to CAI estimates.
