The ILO in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Social Protection organized an awareness-raising workshop in Grand-Bassam on the extension of compulsory social security schemes (CMU, RSTI) to workers in the informal economy. On the occasion, the CNAM claimed that about 3.1 million people have actually enrolled in Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Unformers in the informal economy who have long been excluded from traditional social protection systems can now benefit from a better situation with the CMU and RSTI schemes that remain mandatory. Efforts have been made by the State of Côte d'Ivoire through the CNAM and the CNPS to set up legal mechanisms and mechanisms for the care of the latter. Sophie De Connick, specialist in fundamental principles and rights at work on behalf of the ILO recalled that since 1 October 2019, people have the opportunity to go to health centres to benefit from Universal Health Coverage (UHC). According to the CNAM, as of Monday, about 3.1 million people have actually enrolled in the CMU and this activity is continuous for those who have not done so and the centres are open for this purpose.  determination of appropriate mechanisms for their affiliation and the collection of their contributions, as well as the appropriation of the regimes by these actors.
