Managers of financial institutions are being trained on the issue of personal data protection. Organized by the High Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (HAPDP), this workshop focuses on the risks or consequences on customers or financial institutions in the event of a personal data breach.

The executives of banks, insurance and other financial institutions discussed, among other topics, the protection of personal data including the historical approach, issues, prospects and challenges for the banking sector, then the technical aspects of the compliance procedure, then the Niger's legal and institutional framework for the protection of personal data in Niger and the protected rights, regimes and coercive measures carried out by law. The President of the High Authority for the Protection of Personal Data, Sanady Tchimaden Hadatan, recalled that the processing of personal data refers to an operation relating to personal data. Explaining banking secrecy, she said that it refers to the obligation of banks not to disclose any information about their customers to third parties. She also noted that banking data is of paramount importance for today's businesses, especially in the age of big data. This data is filled with highly confidential information that it can use to understand customer behavior.
