During a seminar by the Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources, the interim report on the plan to promote the blue economy was validated on Thursday 16 February in Lomé.

The validation of the promotion plan document aims to improve the governance of the blue economy sector with the implementation of reforms. It will make it possible to provide this sector with a legal, institutional and organizational arsenal to attract investments. Indeed, this concept “the blue economy” translates into the sustainable use of ocean, river and lake resources for economic growth and the protection of related ecosystems according to the World Bank .

An 82-page document, it is divided into three strategic axes, namely, improving sector governance, promoting economic growth, and strengthening capacities to prevent and adapt to climate change. The implementation of the five-year action plan and the implementation of the listed actions cost a total of two hundred five billion seven hundred forty million FCFA.
