The Emirati group announced on Tuesday, September 23, that the , serif; mso-fareast-font-family: “Times New Roman”; Mso-Bidi-Font-Family:Arial; MSO-Fareast-Language:en">120 MWp located in Kairouan has a completion rate of 82%, and is expected to start in commercial service before the end of the year.

AMEA Power is making progress in implementing its commitments in Tunisia. Launched in May 2024, the project is financed to the tune of 86 million USD by the International Finance Corporation style="font-size:14.0pt; font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, serif; mso-fareast-font-family: “Times New Roman”; Mso-Bidi-Font-Family:Arial; Mso-Fareast-Language:en"> (IFC) and the African Development Bank style="font-size:14.0pt; font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, serif; mso-fareast-font-family: “Times New Roman”; Mso-Bidi-Font-Family:Arial; Mso-Fareast-Language:en"> (BAD). It should produce 222 GWh per year, enough to supply 43,000 households and avoid emissions 117,000 tons of CO : “Times New Roman”; Mso-Bidi-Font-Family:Arial; Mso-Fareast-Language:en">. Built on a “Build-Own-Operate” model by Kairouan Solar Plant, a local subsidiary by AMEA, the Kairouan solar project illustrates the rise in power of private participation in the energy sector. A purchase agreement 20-year-old electricity company signed with STEG ensures its integration into the national network.

In parallel, AMEA is developing a power plant 200 MW solar power plant in Tataouine, for which contracts were signed in May 2024. This project is expected to generate 552,000 MWh per year, powering more than 102,000 homes and avoid nearly 280,800 tons of CO , confirming the strategic role of the group in Tunisia.

CES advances come as the country aims for 35% of renewable energies in its electricity mix by 2030. The national strategy plans to install 8530 MW of renewable capacity and to reduce sector emissions by 46% energy by 2035, while pursuing the objective of neutrality carbon in 2050.
