The OPEC Development Fund international announced, in a press release, that it had approved funding from $576.5 million in favor of several projects and programs of development in nine African countries.

The OPEC Development Fund international (the OPEC Fund) has approved over $1 billion of new funding at the 193rd meeting of its Board of Directors and during the third quarter of 2025. Newly approved operations will support transformative projects in Africa, Asia, America Latin and the Caribbean, covering key development priorities such as health, education, clean energy, water and sanitation, sustainable livelihoods and resilient infrastructure.

The president of the OPEC Fund, Abdulhamid Alkhalifa said:

These approvals reflect our commitment to meet urgent development needs while opening long term prospects. Roads and railways connecting the communities and markets to investments in water, health and education that improve living conditions, we help countries partners to strengthen their resilience, to promote inclusive growth and to accelerate climate action.

The financing includes operations of public and private sectors as well as trade finance initiatives.
