reforms, which according to the Executive Secretary and Director General of the Council
National Sugar Development Agency (NSDC), Mr. Kamar Bakrin, aimed to eliminate
the country's sugar production deficit.
The Executive Secretary and CEO of the NSDC
said that the Nigerian Sugar Institute was designed as a platform
shared across the industry, intended to bring together research, the
development of human resources and technical support within a
single national center. According to him, “its objective is to guarantee access
constant to quality plants, to a qualified workforce and to a
credible technical expertise for the sector, thus strengthening sugar production
local and filling existing gaps.”
According to him, the Institute acts as an institution research and capacity building center for industry sugar factory, operating under the strategic supervision of the NSDC.
According to Bakrin, “the Nigerian Sugar Institute
is a national institution created for this purpose to serve as a pillar of the
research, training and technical expertise in the sugar industry
Nigerian”.
