In partnership with the World Bank, the Waemu Regional Mortgage Refinancing Bank (CRRH-UEMOA), organized on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 May 2021, by videoconference, a second Training Workshop on "the environmental and social risk of housing loans in the WAEMU". The objective of this workshop is to build on the achievements of the first workshop on best practices for managing the environmental and social risks of habitat loans in each EU country for habitat finance. The meeting is part of the recommendations for the regular reissue of the workshops on the environmental and social risk of housing loans of the first workshop.

For Christian AGOSSA, Director General of the CRRH-UEMOA, this is an opportunity to strengthen the awareness and skills of our shareholder banks and SFDs in taking into account the environmental and social risk in the financing of housing loans. The work was organized around two themes "Environmental and social risks in housing construction operations" and "the implementation and evaluation of the environmental and social risk management system related to housing loans".

These modules allowed participants from all WAEMU countries, with the assistance of international experts: to deepen the key principles of environmental and social risks in housing construction operations, as part of the management of housing loan portfolios; to explore models and assessment instruments for the implementation and evaluation of the management system of Environmental and Social Risks related to housing loans, and in particular social housing loans; to better understand and integrate the environmental and social risk monitoring sheet into the loan files submitted for refinancing by the CRRH-UEMOA, respecting the institution's list of exclusions.
