On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, the Nigerian Electoral Commission officially declared Bola Tinubu, candidate of the ruling Congress of Progressives, as president-elect.

Muhammadu Buhari, who is leaving office as head of state, giving way to Bola Tinubu who was officially installed yesterday. Indeed, the former governor of Lagos garnered 8.79 million votes, Tiku Abubakar, of the People's Democratic Party, garnered 6.98 million votes and Peter Obi, of the smaller Labor Party, who won 6.1 million votes.
