The results of the French oil services group SLB (formerly Schlumberger) published on Friday, April 21, indicate that the group's net profit jumped by 83% in the first quarter of 2023. The group expressed optimism, supported by high oil prices and the renewed ambitions of industry majors

In the first three months of 2023, the Houston-based French multinational, which builds wells and sells equipment and production systems for oil fields and offshore platforms, earned $934 million in revenue profit, i.e. +83% compared to the same period previously. The group's turnover was 7.7 billion dollars, up 30% over one year, its largest quarterly increase in activity in ten years.

In 2022, the group went through an uncertain first half of the year, with the onset of the crisis in Ukraine and supply chain blockages, but business was forced to restart in the second half.
