Stock market indices at the regional level continued their bearish movement started a week earlier, reports the weekly market note published by the Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) over the period from June 15 to 19, 2020.

The BRVM 10 and BRVM Composite indices fell 2.52% and 1.44% respectively on their values.

Agricultural values continued to suffer during this week. Saph-CI shares fell another 7.5%, after a decline of more than 6% recorded a week earlier. SICOR shares also posted a similar underperformance, despite the lack of major news regarding the company.

Another sector in difficulty since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, banking stocks occupy the first three places of this flop 5.

SIB CI (-8.27%), BOA SENEGAL (-9.39%) and BICI CI (-13.13%) posted the largest declines of the week. Regarding the SIB CI and BOA SN values, the falls observed follow the detachment of their respective dividends which caused a downward revision of their prices.

The dividends paid on these securities remain in line with the last operations with high net returns of more than 10% each.

After a bullish rally that saw the stock jump more than 20% in one week, BICI CI shares fell 13.13%, as a result of investors recording earnings.

At the regional level, Togo, in the wake of the other States of the sub-region, benefited during the week from the suspension of the service of its debt to the Paris Club.

Senegal, for its part, was able to count on the support of the World Bank with the granting of an envelope of nearly 59 billion CFA francs, aimed at strengthening the economic and social fabric of the second economy of the WAEMU zone.
